Abu Dhabi’s hospitality sector continued its upward trajectory in May 2025, generating AED682 million ($185.7 million) in total revenue. This marks a resilient performance despite seasonal fluctuations, reinforcing the emirate’s position as a luxury and international travel hub. The Abu Dhabi hotel revenue figures reflect a healthy balance between room sales, food and beverage services, and ancillary income streams.

Room Revenue Dominates: AED408M from 34,383 Available Rooms

Of the total Abu Dhabi hotel revenueAED408 million came from room bookings alone. With 34,383 rooms across 172 hotel establishments, the sector achieved an 80% occupancy rate, translating to 1.345 million guest nights. The average revenue per available room (RevPAR) stood at AED490, indicating strong yield management despite a slight dip from April’s AED614.

International Guests Drive Growth: 481K Visitors in May

May saw approximately 481,000 guests, with non-Arab Asian travelers leading the influx at 155,000, followed by 112,000 Europeans and 88,000 UAE nationals. This diverse mix underscores Abu Dhabi’s growing appeal across global markets. Additional segments included 52,000 Arab nationals31,000 GCC visitors, and 25,000 from the Americas, reflecting a well-distributed international footprint.

Five-Star Hotels Lead with 236K Guests and Premium Revenue Share

Luxury accommodation continues to dominate the market. Five-star hotels hosted 236,000 guests, accounting for nearly half of total visitors. Notably, 72,000 European travelers opted for five-star stays, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a high-end destination. In comparison, four-star hotels welcomed 126,000 gueststhree-star and below hosted 70,000, and hotel apartments served 50,000.

F&B and Other Services Add AED274M to Hotel Revenue

Beyond room sales, AED224 million was generated from food and beverage services, while AED50 million came from other sources such as spa, events, and ancillary services. These figures highlight the sector’s ability to monetize beyond accommodation, contributing significantly to overall Abu Dhabi hotel revenue.

Month-on-Month Comparison: May Slightly Trails April’s Peak

While May’s AED682 million in revenue is impressive, it trails April’s AED847 million, which saw 531,000 guests and an 87% occupancy rate. The dip in RevPAR from AED614 to AED490 suggests seasonal pricing adjustments, but the sustained high occupancy and guest volume affirm the sector’s resilience and strategic pricing agility.
